Ache for
= desejar ansiosamente (alguém ou algo), querer muito
- He is aching for sleep.
- After only one week apart she was aching for him.
- My heart still aches for you.

Act out
= expressar (algo, emoção) em ações
- The children were told to act out a verse of their favourite poem.
- children act out what they see.

Act up
= agir de maneira diferente do normal ou esperado, apresentar defeito
- As soon as one of the kids starts acting up, the others follow.
- Her car has been acting up again.

Add on
= acrescentar algo, incluir
- There are proposals to add more money on income tax
 
Add up
= somar algo, fazer adição, fazer sentido (geralmente negativo)
- I can add up in my head easily.
- Why would he accept a job offering less money, it just doesn't add up.

Add up to
= chegar a um resultado ou conclusão, concluir
- Trains are always late in this area, and adds up to a lot of frustration for the passenger.

Aim at
= visar fazer algo, almejar algo
- We're aiming at a 80% increase in production.

Allow for
= levar em conta algo
- We should always allow for the possibility that it might rain.

Angle for
= tentar conseguir algo, pescar (sem pedir diretamente)
- He was obviously angling for an invitation.

Answer (sb) back = responder a alguém (com atrevimento)
- Don't you dare answer me back, young man!

Answer for (sb, sth) = responder/responsabilizar-se por algo, dar uma explicação, responder por alguém
- The coach must answer for the team's poor performance.
- I can answer for Mary because I used to work with her but I've no idea what the other people are like.
